Allegheny County has a new voting system for the 2020 elections. Casting your ballot is simple and straightforward. Learn about the new system below.

Mark Your Ballot

Fill in the oval to the left of the name of your choice. You must darken the oval completely, and do not make any marks outside of the oval. You do not have to vote in every race.

Do not cross out or erase, or your vote may not count. If you make a mistake or a stray mark, ask for a new ballot from the poll workers.

To write in a candidate, fill in the oval to the left of “Write-in” and print the name clearly on the line.

PLEASE NOTE: Stickers or labels for write-in candidates are now prohibited by law. You must write the candidate’s name on the paper ballots.

Insert Your Ballot

Once you have made your selections, take your completed ballot to the precinct scanner for tabulation. A privacy folder will be provided to voters.

Insert your ballot into the secure tabulator.
Your ballot can be inserted in any direction.
Do not fold your ballot.

Confirm Your Ballot

A “Thank You for Voting” message will appear to confirm tabulation. Once you see this message, you’re done! Get your “I Voted” sticker and go about your day knowing you participated in an important civic activity.

Didn’t see a “Thank You” message? See your nearest poll worker for help.
